In statements to the media, Arminda Monteiro stressed that water is a precious commodity and man needs it to live, but considered that recently the population has been experiencing a situation worrying, due to the scarcity of this liquid on the island.
"Lately we're seeing people carrying containers to ask for water in the homes of people who store it during the rainy season, because they're feeling the lack of it," he said.
According to the same source, the population of this municipality is impatient with this situation, and the authorities had already given hope that the problem would be resolved in April of this year, but so far nothing has been done and the water problem has been getting worse and worse.
"The population no longer needs promises, but answers in practice, we are fed up with living in uncertainty, because Brava has always lived in doubt and we have nothing certain, we don't know if we will have water tomorrow and we don't even know if we will have certain maritime transportation."
For his part, the manager of a hotel unit, António de Pina, also showed his discontent and considered that the situation that the Bravenses have been experiencing recently in relation to the lack of water must be resolved once and for all.
According to him, if this situation is not resolved as soon as possible, the island's tourism and agriculture sectors are at great risk.
"We're coming up to the season of greatest consumption and with the municipal festivities approaching, the municipality will be very busy with foreigners visiting, but with this shortage of water I don't see any other solution," he said.
António de Pina said he still doesn't know why Águabrava hasn't started distributing desalinated water in the network because he said he has information that the project has already been finalized.
Contacted by Inforpress, the head of the Águabrava company in the municipality, Ilda Solidade, stressed that the island has always had water problems, the availability of which has always been insufficient to supply the municipality.
"In this hot season, water is consumed more and we do our utmost to distribute it evenly in all the communities, and the company also has a truck on the ground distributing this liquid, to help the team do their job better," he concluded.
